Corner Office

Some days I feel like I rarely leave my corner of the couch. It’s my favorite spot to work, create, read, text, hangout, listen to a podcast... but Lord, am I here too much?

A light came on today.  I’ve been called to women’s ministry. And sometimes that starts in my corner. It’s there that God teaches me and speaks to me.  He fills me with life-giving words to pour out.  And as I share more openly, more vulnerably, it invites others to do the same.

What turned my perspective:

-       I had a great lunch date. We shared some vulnerabilities, some heart things, and some of what God is teaching us.

-       In reading Captivating, a page reminded me of a friend, so I got to share with her and invite her into what I was learning.

-       A fellow entrepreneur had an idea she wanted to share and asked me to look over some new content (which I proofed from my corner)

-       Then an out-of-state encourager texted me, sharing a new sermon series.

Who’s to say great things can’t come from my little corner? God is working. Am I being open to what (and where) He has me? Silly Morgan, it matters not where you’re sitting. Are you listening to His voice and are you available to His daughters?

Do you find yourself stuck in a mental corner? Is someone trying to discourage your heart or diminish your impact? Take a minute to adjust your perspective and ask God to give you a glimpse into what He is doing. He might just surprise you.

(PS - Any guesses as to where I wrote this post? 😏)

Amazon

For such a large company, I love that Amazon is still currently personal. A package just arrived at the door, with a knock and an announcement, “Amazon.” The driver cautiously left the drive as the neighbor children were playing in the street. I couldn’t help but wonder if he had little ones running around his house as well. Heaven forbid someone ring the doorbell around naptime. Some drivers knock, some ring the bell, some wait to hand it to you, and some silently leave it at the door. With each delivery they are telling a little piece of their story.

Speculations:

Hand-delivered’s best friend had a package stolen from the front porch.

Runner has a hot date tonight but was given a few more deliveries than normal today.

Doorbell comes from a large household and that is the only way you’ll be heard.

Stealthy is an introvert, the best day is when all the packages are delivered without talking to a soul.

But considering I’ll probably only ever meet Hand-delivered, I’ll never really know. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the personal snippet of a rather non-personal shopping experience.
